John L. Tackett is a lifelong resident of Lexington Kentucky. He is a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Tackett attended the University of Chicago where he graduated with honors. He returned to Lexington where he attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law. In law school Tackett was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board and the Moot Court Board. Tackett chaired the Student Public Interest Law Foundation. After graduating law school, Tackett clerked for Honorable Franklin Circuit Court Judge Roger Crittenden.

Tackett has been admitted to all Courts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Bar, the Eastern District of Kentucky Federal Court and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Tackett is committed to community involvement and he has participated with the following organizations: The Lexington Fair Housing Council, The Lexington Children’s Theater, Makenna Foundation Benefiting University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, and The Lexington Public Library Young Professionals Division
